Track record

Our services cover the purchase and sale of renewable energy certificates (GEC, I-REC, T-REC and more). Across past projects we have transacted more than 16,309,890 MWh of green power certificates, over 90% of them China GEC, spanning wind, solar, hydro and biomass.

That volume does more than meet client requirements — it supports renewable energy projects and carbon reduction targets at the same time, benefiting our clients and the wider environment alike.

Why SINOCARBON

Expert team

Deep carbon-market expertise across CDM, VCS, I-REC, GEC and CCER mechanisms and standards.

Global network

Connecting domestic and international green-certificate and carbon-credit buyers and sellers through compliant, transparent channels.

End-to-end service

From carbon accounting and asset development to trade matching and neutrality certification — delivered in one place.

Proven scale

Over 16.3 million MWh of green power certificates delivered across wind, solar, hydro and biomass projects.

What is an Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC)?

An Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC) is a global instrument that proves 1 MWh of renewable electricity. EACs align with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 2 guidance.

Certificates such as TIGRs, RECs and I-RECs are the only widely recognised instruments that guarantee the electricity supplied is renewable. They are tradable commodities.

Renewable energy project types we support

Our green-certificate and carbon-credit services cover mainstream clean-energy assets

Solar PV

Utility-scale and distributed photovoltaic stations

Wind power

Onshore and offshore wind projects

Hydropower

Dam-based, run-of-river and pumped storage

Biomass & geothermal

Biomass and geothermal generation projects

Specialist technical services

From carbon accounting to project financing — the steps that take an enterprise to carbon neutrality

Carbon audit

A carbon audit shows where a company’s greenhouse gas emissions come from, surfaces reduction opportunities, and builds the evidence base for taking part in carbon markets and meeting regulation.

Product carbon footprint

A product carbon footprint accounts for every greenhouse gas emission across a product’s life-cycle stages, from resource extraction and upstream manufacture through to end of life.

Renewable energy project financing

Renewable energy stations supply clean electricity, decarbonise the power mix and lay the groundwork for a zero-carbon factory.

Carbon trading brokerage

We work with a network of partners to understand the origin, quality and sustainability of each project, sourcing I-RECs and other certificates that match what our clients need.

Frequently Asked Questions

What services does SINOCARBON provide?

SINOCARBON offers four core services: carbon asset development (CDM, VCS, Gold Standard, UER, I-REC), carbon trading brokerage (GEC, I-REC, TIGR, T-REC and other green certificates and carbon credits), carbon neutrality solutions (carbon auditing, product carbon footprint, zero-carbon factories), and renewable energy project financing.

What is a green power certificate?

A green power certificate is the unique proof of the environmental attributes of renewable electricity, where one certificate typically represents 1 MWh of green power. By purchasing and retiring certificates, an enterprise can demonstrate consumption of an equivalent amount of green electricity for compliance or voluntary targets.

What is the difference between I-REC and China GEC?

GEC is the China Green Electricity Certificate used primarily in the domestic market, while I-REC is an international renewable energy certificate standard used by companies worldwide to account for Scope 2 renewable electricity. SINOCARBON develops and trades both.

How does a company start its carbon neutrality journey?

It usually begins with a carbon audit (greenhouse gas inventory) to identify emission sources and volumes, followed by reductions through efficiency and clean energy, then neutralizing the remainder via green certificates and carbon credits — and finally third-party certification such as a zero-carbon factory. SINOCARBON supports the entire journey.
